Fulham Confirm Silvas…

The club announced on Tuesday that Fulham manager Marco Silva will be departing this summer after a five-year tenure at Craven Cottage.

According to sources cited by ESPN Brasil, Silva is the preferred candidate for the managerial position at Benfica and is anticipated to take over for the exiting José Mourinho. He is reportedly set to receive a two-year contract, with an option for a third.

During his first season in charge, Silva led the team to promotion to the Premier League and secured the club’s first league title in 21 years.

In the following years, he successfully solidified Fulham’s position in the top division, with the club finishing mid-table for four consecutive seasons. In the 2024-25 campaign, they achieved a record 54 points in the Premier League.

While they were in contention for European qualification this season, Fulham ultimately finished in 11th place after a late-season drop in form.

In an open letter to fans, Silva expressed his gratitude, saying, “From day one, I asked you to always stand by us. And you did that for the past five years. We accomplished a lot together.” He added, “My staff and I always felt your support. It will never be forgotten. Fulham will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will return to Craven Cottage one day.”

Silva’s final match as head coach of Fulham was a 2-0 victory against Newcastle United.

Fulham owner Shahid Khan remarked, “Marco and Fulham were a perfect match for five seasons, but change is a natural part of this sport, and we have prepared for this transition. Our club remains an extraordinarily attractive opportunity for prospective head coaches.” He added that a new leader will be appointed thoughtfully and promptly, ensuring they meet the standards of the club and the expectations of its global fanbase.
