Mexicos president closes…

In anticipation of the opening match of the World Cup, classes have been canceled in Mexico City schools and government employees have been instructed to work from home.

As Mexico prepares to face South Africa on Thursday, President Claudia Sheinbaum has announced a decree aimed at reducing traffic congestion across the capital.

All levels of public and private schools will remain closed on Thursday.

Remote work measures are being implemented for federal government employees, and the private sector has also been encouraged to allow work-from-home arrangements for non-essential operations.

“This decree is intended to facilitate the opening ceremony without traffic disruptions or issues on World Cup day,” stated President Sheinbaum.

Officials noted that these measures aim to enhance road safety and ensure accessibility for both residents of the city and the tourists attending the World Cup.

These protocols are specifically for the tournament’s opening day when Mexico will host South Africa at the iconic Azteca Stadium on June 11.
