Manchester City has submitted a record-breaking bid for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, as reported by ESPN sources.

The verbal offer is valued at £106 million ($142 million), with potential performance-related bonuses that could push the total beyond £120 million ($161 million). Nottingham Forest reportedly values Anderson at £120 million before bonuses.

The 23-year-old is also a target for Manchester United, while City is monitoring Sandro Tonali‘s situation at Newcastle as a backup option if the Anderson deal does not materialize.

City’s initial bid of approximately £85 million was rejected by Forest. The new proposal would surpass the existing record for a British player, which stands at £105 million, paid by Arsenal to West Ham for Declan Rice in 2023.

A £125 million transfer of Alexander Isak from Newcastle to Liverpool currently holds the record for the highest transfer fee between British clubs.

City is confident Anderson will be inclined to join the team at the Etihad Stadium, having thrived during his two years at Nottingham Forest after transferring from Newcastle in 2024. His contract at Forest runs until 2029.
