Frank Lampard in positive…

Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has had encouraging discussions about extending his contract.

The 47-year-old guided the Sky Blues to the Premier League last season, clinching the Championship title.

His current deal expires at the end of next season, and his success has raised his profile and attracted interest from elsewhere, including Fulham.

Negotiations with the Midlands club are underway and have been described as positive, with hope a new agreement will be finalised before the new campaign begins.

After April’s promotion, Lampard said there was plenty of work ahead to handle the step up, stressing the need to act quickly, stay ambitious and prepare behind the scenes while briefly enjoying the achievement.

Lampard took over from Mark Robins in November 2024 with Coventry 17th in the Championship, just two points above the relegation zone.

They won 16 of their final 29 league matches to finish fifth and reach the play-offs, where they lost 3-2 on aggregate to Sunderland in the semi-finals.

He then led the team to the Championship title, recording 28 wins—the most in the club’s league history—and ending a 25-year wait for top-flight football.

The former England midfielder began his managerial career at Derby County and later had spells at Chelsea (twice) and Everton.
