Julián Álvarez seeks…

Argentina forward Julián Álvarez says he intends to leave Atletico Madrid to “fulfil his dream.”

The 26-year-old has reportedly attracted interest from Barcelona and Paris St-Germain, and earlier in June Atletico turned down a 150m euro (£130m) bid from Real Madrid.

Currently at the World Cup with Argentina, Álvarez has come off the bench in their first two matches after returning from an ankle injury.

Speaking after Argentina’s World Cup win over Austria, he said he had spoken to the necessary people at Atletico and believes a transfer would be best for all parties, adding that he wants to chase his dream.

He noted it wasn’t the ideal moment to discuss the situation in depth, but said he couldn’t hide his feelings and strives to be honest.

Álvarez joined Atletico from Manchester City for £81.5m in the summer of 2024 and has registered 49 goals and 17 assists in 106 appearances under Diego Simeone.

After scoring 17 La Liga goals in his debut campaign, he managed eight in 2025-26.

He shone in the Champions League, however, netting 10 times as Atletico reached the semi-finals before losing to Arsenal.
