Manchester City has finalized an agreement with Nottingham Forest to acquire Elliot Anderson, according to ESPN sources.
The England midfielder, currently part of Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad, is set to join the Etihad Stadium for a record fee for a British player.
According to insiders at City, the transfer fee is lower than the previous British record of £125 million, which was established when Alexander Isak transferred from Newcastle to Liverpool last summer. The fixed fee for Anderson is reported to be £116 million, with no additional add-ons.
This transfer will break the record for the most expensive British player, surpassing Declan Rice’s £105 million move from West Ham to Arsenal in 2023. It also sets a new club record, exceeding Jack Grealish’s £100 million transfer in 2021.
City prioritized Anderson as their top target this summer and finally reached an agreement after having two earlier bids rejected.
He is now set to undergo a medical examination in the United States, where he is getting ready for England’s final World Cup group match against Panama on Saturday.

– Sources: City nearing appointment of Maresca as manager
The 23-year-old will become City’s first significant signing following Pep Guardiola’s exit as manager at the close of the season.
Enzo Maresca, the former Chelsea manager, is anticipated to be announced as Guardiola’s successor shortly.
The club is looking to strengthen its midfield with Anderson’s addition, especially after Bernardo Silva left for Real Madrid on a free transfer, amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding the futures of Nico González and Tijjani Reijnders.
