Paris Saint-Germain is on the verge of finalizing the transfer of Yan Diomande, following successful initial discussions with his German club, according to sources at ESPN.
The Champions League champions have made their first formal offer for the RB Leipzig forward from the Ivory Coast this past Sunday, and a deal could be finalized as early as Monday.
Negotiations have intensified between the clubs, with PSG’s president Nasser Al Khelaifi and Leipzig’s Oliver Mintzlaff engaged in discussions over the last few days. An agreement could be reached swiftly, sources indicate.
French publication L’Equipe first reported that Diomande is set to move to PSG.
The expected transfer fee is around €100 million ($114 million), including potential add-ons, which Leipzig is prepared to accept. Although Liverpool is still in contention, PSG is currently leading the race.
Real Madrid is also monitoring the situation closely.
At just 19 years old, Diomande has reportedly signed a five-year contract with the two-time European champions and discussed their vision with manager Luis Enrique and sporting director Luis Campos.
Diomande has revealed that PSG was always his preferred choice and has informed Leipzig of his wish to depart this summer. He joined Leipzig last summer from Leganes for €20 million ($23 million).
Currently representing his country at the World Cup, Diomande has showcased his talent with impressive performances for the Ivory Coast, who will compete against Norway in the round of 32 on Tuesday. His notable display during the tournament has prompted PSG’s urgency to secure his transfer.
