Manchester City has finalized a deal with Nottingham Forest to acquire Elliot Anderson, as confirmed by the club.
Anderson has successfully passed a medical exam at England‘s World Cup training headquarters in Kansas City and will officially finalize his transfer to the Etihad Stadium upon his return from the tournament.
Insiders revealed to ESPN that the transfer agreement amounts to £116 million, without any add-ons or performance-related bonuses.
A statement from City issued on Thursday noted: “Manchester City and Nottingham Forest have reached an agreement for the transfer of Elliot Anderson.”
“Currently, Anderson is participating in the FIFA World Cup with England and has completed his medical examination in Kansas. The final details of the transfer will be concluded after his return to England.”
“Meanwhile, everyone at Manchester City wishes Elliot and the England squad the best of luck in their World Cup journey, and we look forward to welcoming him to Manchester soon.”
This deal establishes Anderson as the most expensive British player in history, eclipsing Declan Rice’s £105m transfer from West Ham to Arsenal in 2023.

At just 23, Anderson departs Forest after making 92 appearances since joining from Newcastle in 2024.
Sources indicate that City is also considering another midfield acquisition this summer, with an eye on 18-year-old Moroccan international Ayyoub Bouaddi.
