Man Utd on verge of free…

Manchester United are on the verge of signing experienced goalkeeper Karl Darlow on a free transfer.

The 35-year-old left Leeds United at the end of June.

He made 22 Premier League appearances for the West Yorkshire club last season, finishing the campaign as Daniel Farke’s preferred starter.

Darlow is also Wales’ current first-choice goalkeeper.

His arrival is expected to pave the way for Altay Bayindir’s exit, after Bayindir spent most of last season as understudy to United’s No 1, Senne Lammens.

With Radek Vitek also likely to depart—either on loan or permanently following an impressive spell at Bristol City—head coach Michael Carrick has been seeking additional cover, particularly as 40-year-old Tom Heaton hasn’t featured for the first team since February 2023.

If the deal is completed as anticipated, Darlow will take part in pre-season, which begins against Wrexham in Helsinki on 18 July.
