Revs Bring Back USMNTs…

The New England Revolution announced on Monday an extension of the loan for United States men’s national team goalkeeper Matt Turner from Ligue 1 club Lyon until the end of 2026.

There is also an option to extend the loan until 2027, after which New England can obtain Turner’s contract from Lyon permanently.

“We are excited to have reached an agreement with Lyon, allowing us to keep Matt Turner in a New England Revolution jersey for the foreseeable future,” said Chris Tierney, the Revolution’s GM and chief soccer officer.

“Matt’s performances on the field, whether in MLS or internationally with the U.S. Men’s National Team, speak for themselves. We are confident that Matt will continue to set the standard for MLS goalkeepers as he further enhances his impressive legacy with the Revolution.”

Turner recently completed his second World Cup with the USMNT, playing the full 90 minutes in the narrow 3-2 loss to Türkiye.

He has made a total of 55 appearances for the USMNT since his international debut in 2021.

Awarded 2021 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, Turner is now in his second term with the Revs, having returned on loan last August. He originally debuted in MLS with New England in 2018 following a loan period with the Richmond Kickers. During his first time with the Revs, he contributed to the team that captured the 2021 Supporters’ Shield.

Turner has also been part of English clubs such as Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, and Crystal Palace. He has made over 190 club appearances throughout his career.
