Leeds United have reached an agreement with Sassuolo on a £34.1m fee for defender Tarik Muharemovic.
The 23-year-old centre-back still needs to finalise personal terms and pass a medical, with other Premier League clubs also interested. If he chooses Elland Road, he would become Daniel Farke’s second signing of the summer, following Harry Wilson’s free transfer from Fulham, and would effectively replace Pascal Struijk, who joined Brighton for £20m in June.
Muharemovic made three appearances for Bosnia-Herzegovina at the World Cup, including the last-32 defeat to co-hosts the United States. In that match he was fouled by Folarin Balogun, who was sent off, though FIFA later waived the suspension after intervention from US President Donald Trump and White House officials.
Born in Ljubljana, Slovenia, Muharemovic began his senior career in Austria with Wolfsberger in 2021. He later moved to Juventus but did not make a first-team appearance, and joined Sassuolo in 2025 after a successful loan. Juventus are reportedly set to receive 50% of the fee due to a clause in last summer’s sale.
