João Gomes has officially transferred to Aston Villa from Wolves on a permanent deal.
Reports indicate that the transfer fee for the Brazilian midfielder is €40 million (£34 million).
Despite playing 35 matches for Wolves last season, the club faced relegation from the Premier League. Gomes had participated in the club’s preseason training camp in Portugal before returning to England as negotiations with Villa progressed.
Gomes has been with Wolves since January 2023, following his transfer from Flamengo in Brazil. Unfortunately, he was not selected for Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil squad for the World Cup this summer.
At Aston Villa, he is expected to fill the void left by Youri Tielemans, who has moved to Manchester United.
