Kevin Keegan, celebrated as one of England‘s finest footballers and a charismatic figure in management, has passed away at the age of 75, as confirmed by his family.
A two-time Ballon d’Or recipient, Keegan had a distinguished playing career with Liverpool, Hamburg, Southampton, and Newcastle United. He later managed notable teams including Newcastle, Fulham, the England national team, and Manchester City.
In a statement, his family expressed deep sorrow: “It is with immense sadness that we announce Kevin Keegan has passed away at the age of 75.”
“The former England player and manager had been battling cancer and was surrounded by his wife and daughters in his final moments.”

Keegan’s family revealed his cancer diagnosis in January, later disclosing its progression to stage four in June.
During his playing career, Keegan secured three First Division titles with Liverpool in the 1970s, contributing to their victories in the European Cup, FA Cup, and two UEFA Cups.
He transitioned to Hamburg, where he claimed consecutive Ballon d’Or awards in 1978 and 1979 and was honored with an OBE for his contributions to football in 1982.

Keegan earned 63 caps for the England national team, scoring 21 goals, and served as captain before returning as manager from 1999 to 2000.
