Wrexham Women made history by defeating FC Pyunik 4-2 in their inaugural European match, securing a place in the Women’s Champions League first-round qualifying final.
On an exciting evening at the Racecourse Ground, Jenny Sugarman’s team overcame the reigning Armenian champions in their debut in the tournament, thanks to goals from Katie Barker, Lili Jones, Ava Suckley, and Natasha Thomas.
The Welsh team earned their Champions League berth after clinching the Adran Premier League title for the first time last season.
FC Pyunik initially took the lead in the 11th minute, but Wrexham quickly responded, with Barker scoring just two minutes later to equalize.

After a balanced first half, Wrexham fell behind again early in the second half. However, a stunning chip from Jones and a follow-up goal from Suckley allowed Wrexham to take the lead for the first time in the match.
Late in the game, substitute Thomas sealed the victory with a goal in the 90th minute, marking Wrexham’s first-ever win in European competition.
They are set to face Latvia’s Riga FC on July 25, with a chance to advance to the next round.
