Newly promoted Birmingham City have re-signed goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley on a free transfer following her departure from Brighton.
The 29-year-old returns to the club she first joined at six years old and where she made her senior debut in 2014.
She is understood to have agreed a two-year contract with an option for a further year.
After spells with Bristol City and Manchester United, Baggaley moved to Brighton in 2023 and made 42 appearances there.
She has regularly been included in England squads since 2025 but is still awaiting her first senior cap.
Baggaley said she retains a soft spot for the club where her career began.
She credited Birmingham with laying the foundations of her development and said she hopes to give something back.
She added that, although the club has been through many changes in recent years, the investment in the women’s team is clear and she is excited to be part of it.
Baggaley was named Brighton’s player of the season in her first year but saw her minutes reduced following the arrival of Nigeria goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie.
Brighton announced last month that she would leave when her contract expired in June.
Manager Amy Merricks said Baggaley understands what it means to play for Birmingham City and returns with significantly more experience than during her first spell.
Merricks added that her recent WSL experience will bring quality, leadership, and strong competition to the goalkeeping unit.
