Luka Modric, the AC Milan midfielder who turns 41 in September, has signed a new one-year deal with the club.
The Croatian joined Milan last summer on a 12-month contract with an option to extend after leaving Real Madrid.
Following 13 seasons at the Bernabeu, Modric scored two goals in 37 appearances for Milan, who finished fifth in Serie A and exited the Coppa Italia at the last-16 stage.

A new campaign brings a new challenge—one I believe in and that drives me. I’m ready to give everything again for this shirt and I’m proud to keep wearing these colors. I can’t wait to be back at San Siro and hear your roar.”
Modric recently featured at his fifth World Cup, where Croatia were eliminated by Portugal in the last-32 round. Since he became captain in 2016, Croatia have previously finished runners-up and third at the tournament.
The 2018 Ballon d’Or winner lifted six Champions League trophies and four La Liga titles with Real Madrid, and earlier made 160 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur over four seasons.
This season at Milan, he will play under former Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim, who replaced the dismissed Massimiliano Allegri in June.
In a statement, Milan said Modric has been a central presence in their midfield, bringing experience and quality on and off the pitch with humility and passion. They hailed him as one of the game’s iconic figures and said he will continue his Rossoneri journey with the ambition to reach new milestones.
