On Monday, law enforcement officials announced they are investigating allegations of misconduct involving players at Austin FC‘s developmental youth academy. This situation has led to the expulsion of certain players and the suspension of activities for the affected age group.
In a statement released on Friday, the Austin FC Academy indicated that they became aware of allegations of “youth-on-youth” misconduct among players in December 2025. They promptly reported the matter to Austin police, Major League Soccer, and the U.S. Center for SafeSport.
Details about the alleged misconduct have not been disclosed by either the academy or the police.
“We can confirm that there is an active investigation related to this matter. However, due to the involvement of minors, the investigation is ongoing, and we are not able to provide further details at this time,” stated the police.
The investigation was initially reported by The Guardian.
The academy noted that it took action following complaints from parents, but did not specify the age group of the players involved. The academy supports youth teams ranging from under-13 to under-19, which compete in MLS Next and offers educational services for the players.
As a result of the investigation, the involved players faced suspensions and expulsions, and all activities for the impacted academy age group have been halted.
“The Austin FC Academy prioritizes the health and safety of our youth players above all else,” the academy stated. “We remain fully cooperative with law enforcement during the ongoing investigation. Throughout this process, Austin FC Academy and MLS have taken decisive actions, driven by a steadfast commitment to the health, safety, and well-being of our youth players, and we will continue to do so.”
