Head coach Roberto De Zerbi of Tottenham has stated that the club is aiming for “another bomba” transfer, likening himself to a “shark” when hunting for a coveted player.
This summer, Spurs have been very active in the transfer market, setting a new club record by signing Mateus Fernandes from West Ham for £85 million ($113.7 million) and then Sandro Tonali from Newcastle, in a transfer that could reach £100 million ($133.8 million).
Additionally, Jan Paul van Hecke has joined from Brighton, while Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi have arrived on free transfers. Spurs are also reportedly pursuing Brazilian winger Savinho from Manchester City.
The term “bomba” is commonly used by fans on social media to refer to unexpected or surprise transfer signings.
“The transfer market is definitely not over,” De Zerbi told reporters, as cited by The Athletic.
“We have completed 60% of our transfer market project, and there’s still another bomba on the horizon.”
When questioned about the proximity of the “bomba” deal, De Zerbi replied, “I hope so, but it’s not finalized yet.”

“When I identify a player I want, I become like a shark,” De Zerbi explained. “There’s no room for refusal.”
“I thoroughly enjoy the transfer market aspect of my work; it’s not pressure, but one of the most enjoyable parts of my job.”
Tottenham’s 2026-27 Premier League campaign kicks off with a match against Brentford on August 22.
