Matos has been backed in this summer’s transfer market, with Swansea reportedly spending around £15m in total on Moussa Yeo, Elijah Just and Joseph Opoku, and signing defender Stephen Welsh on a free.
More arrivals are expected. However, Swansea have sold influential midfielder Ethan Galbraith, and there is uncertainty over whether Zan Vipotnik, last season’s Championship top scorer, will remain at the club by the end of the window.
Matos said the team built strong foundations last season but must keep pushing and progressing. He noted a positive pre-season, solid new additions, and his excitement for the campaign ahead and beyond.
Swansea’s final pre-season friendly is at home to Leganes on Saturday, followed by a home Carabao Cup tie against Birmingham City the next weekend. The league season begins away at Stoke City on Saturday, 15 August.
