Trabzonspor have announced they’ve opened talks to sign Mohamed Salah.

The 34-year-old Egypt forward, who left Liverpool at the end of last season, is negotiating a free transfer.

In a statement, the club said Salah is due to arrive in Istanbul on Wednesday and is expected to reach Trabzon later that evening.

Details of his welcome in Trabzon will be shared via the club’s official communication channels during the day.

Nicknamed the Black Sea Storm, Trabzonspor have won seven league titles, six of them between 1976 and 1984, and ended a 38-year wait by clinching the championship again in 2022.

Based in the north-eastern city of Trabzon, they are one of only six clubs to have won the Turkish Super Lig.

Salah joined Liverpool from Roma in June 2017 and, over nine seasons, collected a host of trophies: two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the Club World Cup, the Uefa Super Cup, the FA Cup, two EFL Cups and the Community Shield.

In England, he won the Premier League Golden Boot four times and was named PFA Player of the Year in 2018, 2022 and 2025.

He departed Anfield with 257 goals and 120 assists from 442 appearances.
