Manchester United are poised to appoint former Hearts boss Eva Olid as their new women’s manager.

The 40-year-old Spaniard is expected to meet the squad on Wednesday as the club finalises her arrival, following Marc Skinner’s departure by mutual consent on Monday, a month before the WSL season begins.

Olid left Hearts this summer after guiding the club to its first league title last season.

She took charge in 2021 and later extended her contract to summer 2026 with an option for an additional year, but in April it was announced she would depart at the end of the campaign by mutual agreement.

Olid also led the Edinburgh side to their first domestic final, where they lost to Rangers in the 2024 Scottish Cup.

Under her tenure, Hearts recorded back-to-back fourth-place league finishes before slipping to fifth in 2024-25, and they secured their first silverware last term by finishing two points ahead of Rangers.
