According to Spain’s Sports Minister Milagros Tolón, the nation “deserves” to host the final of the 2030 World Cup.
FIFA has not yet determined which country will stage the championship match. Spain, along with Portugal and Morocco, is among the leading co-hosts for the tournament’s upcoming edition.
On Wednesday, FIFA refuted a media report claiming that President Gianni Infantino had suggested Morocco host the final as a move to gain support for his presidency.
“The most important thing is that FIFA has already denied it,” Tolón stated during an interview with Cadena Ser radio. “We are in talks with FIFA, and our next meeting is set for September. We’re dedicated to this cause because we believe the World Cup final should be held in Spain. We truly deserve it and have consistently backed this goal.”
At present, Spain stands out as the only country holding the title of reigning world champions in both men’s and women’s senior football simultaneously.
The women’s national team secured their first World Cup victory by defeating England in Sydney in 2023, while the men’s team claimed the European championship two years ago and triumphed over Argentina in the World Cup final last month in New Jersey, earning them a second star.

She added, “Firstly, we are world champions in both men’s and women’s football. Secondly, the joint bid for the 2030 World Cup was made by Spain and Portugal, with Morocco later participating.”
“Spain has a wealth of experience in hosting major sporting events, complemented by a modern communication system and a high level of security. Given these advantages, I am confident that FIFA will choose Spain for the final.”
Morocco is eyeing the final to be held at the future King Hassan II Stadium in Casablanca, which is set to accommodate 115,000 spectators. Spain has at least two prominent venues in contention: the stadiums of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The 2030 World Cup will kick off in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay, followed by matches in the Iberian Peninsula and Morocco.
