Marcus Rashford is set to rejoin Manchester United for their preseason camp in Ireland, as confirmed by head coach Michael Carrick.
Rashford has been on holiday following England‘s win against France in the World Cup third-place playoff on July 19.
Barcelona, where Rashford spent last season on loan, has opted not to activate their €30m ($34m) option to sign him permanently.
This decision means Rashford, who has a contract with Old Trafford until 2028, will be part of the United squad for the first time in over 18 months.
“I have played alongside him and even participated in the game of his debut, so we have quite a history,” Carrick shared on Saturday. “We will have a complete squad this week in Dublin. We’ll be flying directly there and will have several days to have the entire group reunited. Marcus is indeed a part of that.”
The 28-year-old will team up with Carrick and his teammates in Dublin this week after United’s recent 1-1 draw with Champions League champions Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg on Saturday.
Rashford has not played a competitive match for United since a Europa League game against Viktoria Plzen in December 2024. After being sidelined by former coach Ruben Amorim, he joined Aston Villa on loan in January 2025.

He returned to United last summer but was initially required to train separately before agreeing to his loan move to Barcelona, where he scored 14 goals in 49 appearances last season.
United’s next match is against Leeds United at Croke Park on Wednesday, followed by a clash against AC Milan—now managed by Amorim—in Poland on August 15.
