Manchester United played to a 1-1 draw against the reigning European champions, Paris Saint-Germain, in a preseason friendly in Gothenburg. Bryan Mbeumo equalized for United after an early goal from Ibrahim Mbaye.
United found themselves behind within two minutes as Mbaye scored from close range following a swift attack from PSG, marking a rough start for Michael Carrick’s squad.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia nearly extended PSG’s lead shortly after, but his shot from distance went off target. United then began to settle into the match, with Mbeumo becoming increasingly influential in their attacking efforts.
Mbeumo had an early header blocked and tested Matvey Safonov with a free-kick. Meanwhile, Patrick Dorgu also went close with a header that was saved by the PSG keeper.
The pressure paid off for United in the 32nd minute when Amad Diallo set up Mbeumo, who finished with a low left-footed shot past Safonov, leveling the match.
Mbeumo remained central to United’s attack, firing another free-kick over the bar, while Harry Maguire saw his header from a corner saved.
However, the first half brought some worries for United, as Mason Mount had to leave the pitch after just 20 minutes, with Tyler Fletcher stepping in as his replacement.
The second half started at a slower pace, but Mbeumo nearly gave United the lead with a stunning effort. After a long pass from Maguire, he cut inside the penalty area and curled a shot toward the top corner, but Safonov made a brilliant save to prevent the goal.
United’s new signing Youri Tielemans made his debut in the second half and showcased some promising moments during his short appearance.
Another injury scare hit United when goalkeeper Tom Heaton had to come off in the 49th minute. With no other recognized senior keeper available, Dermot Mee took his place.
PSG brought on several of their star players, including Marquinhos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and João Neves during the second half but could not convert their chances into goals.
