Newly promoted Premier League side Coventry City have broken their transfer record to sign Ghanaian midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi.
The 20-year-old has agreed a long-term deal, with the Sky Blues paying Danish club Nordsjaelland €27m (£23.1m) plus a further €3m (£2.5m) in add-ons.
Yirenkyi made his Ghana debut in May 2025 and featured at this summer’s World Cup, scoring a stoppage-time winner in the Black Stars’ group victory over Panama.
He becomes Coventry’s fifth signing of the summer after Frank Lampard led the club back to the top flight following a 25-year absence.
“When I spoke to the head coach about the plans and the style, it’s something I really like, and I look forward to learning from him,” said Yirenkyi.
“I’m still young so I want to learn from the head coach, the other players and work really hard for the team.”
A graduate of the Right to Dream academy, he joined Nordsjaelland in 2024 and was named the Danish Superliga’s Young Player of the Year last season.
Primarily a midfielder, Yirenkyi is known for his versatility and has also filled in at right-back for both club and country.
