Belgium forward Romelu Lukaku has completed a move to Fenerbahce from Napoli.
The 33-year-old endured an injury-hit season last term, featuring only seven times in all competitions for the Serie A club.
Belgium’s record goalscorer returns to Turkey, where he lived in 1996-97 while his father, Roger, played for Super Lig side Genclerbirligi.
In a social media message to Fenerbahce fans, Lukaku called the switch an honour and said he is fully fit and ready to play, adding that returning to a country he knew as a child is an emotional moment.
The transfer fee and contract length were not disclosed.
Despite last season’s setbacks, Lukaku scored three goals at this summer’s World Cup.
His honours include a Belgian title with Anderlecht, a FIFA Club World Cup with Chelsea, and Serie A crowns with both Inter Milan and Napoli.
He is Fenerbahce’s second former Manchester United striker to arrive this summer, following Mason Greenwood’s move from Marseille.
Fenerbahce have finished second to Galatasaray in each of the past four seasons and have not won the Turkish league since 2014.
