PSV head coach Peter Bosz said Driouech will not feature against Excelsior on Sunday following Rangers’ decision, but he intends to bring the winger back into the squad as soon as possible.
Bosz admitted he was surprised, believing the clubs had already reached an agreement and that everything was settled.
He added that he has not spoken to Driouech since and does not know when he will return, saying such situations require sitting down to talk and listen.
Bosz emphasized that Driouech is once again one of his players, that the focus is on winning matches together, and that he will need the winger’s help to do so.
He said he fully understands the player’s disappointment, which is natural, but stressed it must pass quickly for Driouech to be available again.
Rangers have added nine players this summer, and chairman Andrew Cavenagh said on Monday he expects several more signings while some could depart. Midfielder Mohamed Diomande was sold to Turkish club Corum on Wednesday.
After progressing through Heerenveen’s youth system, Driouech made his name at Excelsior, tallying 101 appearances and 16 goals before completing a high-profile move to PSV in the summer of 2024.
Known for his close control, pace, sharp finishing, and ability to operate on either wing, the Haarlem-born winger was eligible for France and the Netherlands but featured for Morocco, helping the Under-23s win the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
