On paper, Celtic could be given almost no away tickets for a match at Ibrox under the SPFL’s League Cup rules. BBC Scotland reviewed Annex 2 of the competition regulations, specifically Section 11 on admission for visiting clubs, and found that the home club is only obliged to provide 50 complimentary tickets to the visitors—10 for the directors’ box and 40 for the stand—delivered at least five days before the game where practicable. The rules also state that no visiting official or player can enter the ground without a ticket. Interpreted strictly, this would allow Rangers to admit only a very small number of Celtic supporters to Ibrox.
