Bayerns Musiala Dealing…

Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala has disclosed that he is suffering from treatable absence seizures after collapsing on the pitch for the second time in just four days.

The 23-year-old Germany international fell to the ground shortly after coming on as a substitute in the second half of Tuesday’s friendly against Heidenheim. Players from both teams quickly formed a circle around him as he received medical attention before being assisted off the field.

Musiala had previously collapsed during a friendly against RB Leipzig on Saturday. According to the German news agency DPA, he left the field unaided but appeared disoriented.

“I know many of you are concerned, and I want to clear up those worries by explaining my situation: I have been diagnosed with brief, temporary – but treatable – absence seizures due to a neurological dysfunction,” he shared on Instagram.

“These episodes can lead to incidents like those witnessed recently during the matches against Leipzig and Heidenheim. While they may seem alarming, they are currently a part of my everyday life. I am receiving excellent medical care and remain optimistic. FC Bayern and my personal support system are fully supportive and helping me through this.”

Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl was questioned about Musiala’s possible return to play after his collapse on Saturday, stating that the player would address the matter soon and that “we were aware of the situation.”

Musiala emphasized, “Importantly, there is no significant health risk. I have been in close consultation with medical experts and made the personal decision to face this challenge head-on; with the neurologists’ approval, I want to continue doing what aids my recovery: living my life and following my passion for football.”

“I take full responsibility for this decision. Overall, I feel very positive and believe I’m on the right track.”

He also expressed a desire to keep this matter private, choosing to share it only with his close circle, the club, and medical professionals.

Musiala previously suffered a broken left leg during Bayern’s match against Paris Saint-Germain at the Club World Cup and made his return to action in the Bundesliga at the beginning of 2026.

He played a crucial role for Germany in the 2026 World Cup, where under coach Julien Nagelsmann, the team was unexpectedly knocked out in the round of 32 by Paraguay.

The Bundesliga champions, Bayern, will face Borussia Dortmund on Saturday in the German Supercup, marking the traditional start to the season.
