Leeds United have secured the £8.5m signing of defender Nico Elvedi from Borussia Monchengladbach.
The 29-year-old Switzerland international has agreed a three-year deal at Elland Road, reuniting with head coach Daniel Farke, who managed the Bundesliga club in 2022-23.
Elvedi said Farke was a major factor in his decision, adding that although they worked together for only a year, he enjoyed playing under him, learned a great deal and expects to keep learning.
Monchengladbach accepted a bid of £6.8m up front with a further £1.7m in add-ons.
Elvedi spent 11 years at Monchengladbach, making 364 appearances for the German side.
He has 73 caps for Switzerland and played every minute of their recent run to the World Cup quarter-finals.
Elvedi becomes Leeds’ fourth summer addition, following James Trafford, Harry Wilson and fellow defender Tarik Muharemovic.
His arrival paved the way for Sebastiaan Bornauw to depart Elland Road on a season-long loan to Hamburg.
Earlier on Wednesday, striker Joel Piroe completed a season-long loan move to West Ham.
Leeds open their Premier League campaign away to Nottingham Forest on Saturday at 15:00 BST.
