In May 2023, Marmoush joined Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer from Wolfsburg. Then 24, he hit the ground running, scoring 17 goals in all competitions in his first season.
In the first half of 2024–25, he exceeded expectations with 15 Bundesliga goals from 8.9 expected goals, and supplied nine assists in 17 league matches. Before leaving Germany, his overall return was 20 goals and 13 assists in 26 games across all competitions.
Set pieces became a hallmark of his game. He was the first player in Europe’s top five leagues since Lionel Messi in 2019 to score direct free-kicks in three consecutive competitive matches. Manchester City signed him for £59m in January 2025.
He started brightly in England, registering his first career hat-trick against Newcastle, scoring the winner in City’s FA Cup quarter-final at Bournemouth, and then netting a long-range strike against the same opponents in the Premier League—a goal later named the season’s best.
Not everything went to plan, though.
In the 2025 FA Cup final, with City trailing Crystal Palace, Erling Haaland handed him the ball for a penalty, but Dean Henderson saved it and City were beaten at Wembley.
Former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha says that moment shouldn’t define Marmoush’s time at the club, noting that he focuses more on Marmoush’s strength and the quality of his runs in behind.
