Manchester United youngster Jacob Devaney is heading back to the Scottish Premiership on loan with Hibernian, who hold an option to make the move permanent.
The 19-year-old midfielder captained United’s Premier League 2 side in the first half of last season before switching to St Mirren, where he made 18 appearances.
Primarily used as a deep-lying playmaker, the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international scored once and recorded one assist for the Paisley club.
Devaney also featured for United in July’s pre-season fixtures against Wrexham and Rosenborg, netting in the latter.
Hibs head coach David Gray described him as a technically gifted young international eager to learn and improve.
Gray added that completing the deal before the window closes is a real positive and that the club will look to settle him in quickly.
