Cody Gakpo is among the forwards being closely watched by Manchester City as the transfer deadline approaches, according to ESPN sources.
City has made inquiries regarding Gakpo’s potential availability, though they have yet to reach out directly to Liverpool.
The Dutch international played a key role in Liverpool’s recent 2-2 draw against Newcastle, scoring a goal. So far, Liverpool has maintained that they wish to retain Gakpo, but this position might shift if they secure new signings before the window closes.
Liverpool continues to negotiate for Paris Saint-Germain‘s Bradley Barcola and has had two offers rejected for Brighton & Hove Albion‘s Yankuba Minteh.
Tottenham is also expressing interest in Gakpo.
Manchester City has bolstered their attacking options with the acquisition of Brazilian winger Allan from Palmeiras, following a €40 million (£34 million) deal finalized on Monday.
With Savinho and Omar Marmoush both heading to Tottenham, Enzo Maresca’s squad now has room for another winger.
Chelsea‘s Pedro Neto has also been considered alongside Gakpo.

Furthermore, City is eager to secure another midfielder, as Nico González is nearing a transfer to Newcastle United.
This would make him the fourth senior midfielder to depart the Etihad this summer, joining Bernardo Silva, Rodri, and Tijjani Reijnders.
Moroccan midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi has arrived in Manchester to finalize his €100 million move from Lille, while interest in Chelsea’s Enzo Fernández remains strong.
The Argentine was listed among the substitutes for Chelsea’s 3-2 victory over Fulham on Monday before coming on in the second half.
