According to sources, Nico González is set to transfer from Manchester City to Newcastle United, with a deal reportedly agreed upon.
The Spanish midfielder’s move to St James’ Park will reportedly cost £52 million ($70.9 million), with Newcastle set to pay an initial £48 million ($65.4 million) and an additional £4 million ($5.5 million) in potential add-ons.
González is the fourth senior midfielder to leave Manchester City this summer, joining the likes of Rodri, Bernardo Silva, and Tijjani Reijnders in securing exits from the club.
After 18 months at City, where he arrived from Porto for £50 million in January 2025, González is parting ways with the club. During his time there, he made 59 appearances and scored four goals.
Although he expressed a desire to remain at City earlier this summer, he has opted to accept Newcastle’s proposition. He was an unused substitute in City’s recent 2-1 victory over Bournemouth, as new head coach Enzo Maresca opted to deploy center back Marc Guéhi in the midfield position instead.
