Nottingham Forest
are in negotiations to sign
Chelsea
forward Liam Delap.
The 23-year-old has been listed for sale by
Chelsea
at £50m and is currently training away from the first team.
It is not yet clear if the discussions relate to a permanent transfer or a loan, though the clubs are known to have a good relationship.
Delap was omitted from
Chelsea‘s squad for Monday’s Premier League fixture against
Fulham
and last week relinquished the number nine shirt to fellow striker Joao Pedro.
A move would come a little over a year after his £30m switch to Stamford Bridge from
Ipswich Town, with his campaign curtailed by shoulder and hamstring issues that left him with just one league goal.
Forest have already added defender Ousmane Diomande from Sporting for £34m, plus free agents midfielder Xaver Schlager and goalkeeper Steve Benda, this summer.
They have, however, sold England midfielder Elliot Anderson to
Manchester City for a club-record £116m and striker Taiwo Awoniyi to
Coventry City for £9m.
If he joins, Delap would compete with Chris Wood and Igor Jesus for a starting spot at the City Ground.
Chelsea are also seeking to complete several sales and loan exits before the 1 September transfer deadline, with 39 senior players currently on their books.
