Salford City ended the 2024-25 season in eighth, then lost the 2025-26 League Two play-off final and dismissed Karl Robinson. His replacement, Peter Cklamovski, has opened with three straight league defeats.
Parkin said the summer signings should have lifted supporters, highlighting Luke Molyneux—Doncaster’s standout attacker in recent seasons—and striker Macaulay Langstaff from Millwall.
He noted that while Langstaff didn’t score freely at Millwall, he’s likely a level above League Two. Bringing in those two suggested Salford’s attack would click, but that hasn’t shown in the early weeks.
It’s still early, Parkin added, but with a strong budget and after being beaten play-off finalists last year, the owners will be puzzled; he expected Salford to be competing near the top and is surprised by the slow start.
He believes results will improve, but says the Salford job comes with extra pressure given the resources and the club’s high-profile backers.
