Manchester United Nearing…

Manchester United are close to signing Mexico international Rebeca Bernal from the Washington Spirit. The 29-year-old, who can operate at the heart of defence or in central midfield, would become the first Mexican to play in the Women’s Super League.

Bernal joined the Spirit from CF Monterrey in February 2025 and has made 41 appearances, winning the NWSL Challenge Cup that year. She missed Sunday’s NWSL match against Bay FC with what the club called an “excused absence.”

Capped 65 times by Mexico with seven goals, Bernal scored the winner in the 2023 Pan American Games final against Chile, securing Mexico’s first title.

United begin their WSL campaign under new manager Eva Olid away to London City Lionesses on Friday and have already added defender Andrea Medina from Atletico Madrid, goalkeeper Janina Leitzig from Leicester City, and Sweden winger Monica Jusu Bah from BK Hacken.
