Ebbsfleet United can begin their season on Saturday after the National League removed the club’s suspension.
The Kent side had their opening six National League South fixtures postponed while they tackled financial problems that prompted His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to file a winding-up petition over unpaid sums dating back to April.
A takeover last month by new owner John O’Leary enabled Ebbsfleet to clear what was owed to HMRC and pay the players in full.
On Wednesday, the club said, external they were grateful for everyone’s patience and for the exemplary conduct of players and staff during a challenging period.
The league’s compliance and licensing committee has issued a suspended six-point deduction, which will be enforced if the club fails to meet still-to-be-specified obligations.
Earlier this week, the sixth-tier club said it had submitted full evidence to the National League showing funds were available to settle all liabilities, with HMRC confirming no amounts remain outstanding.
After meeting on Tuesday, the National League’s compliance and licensing committee lifted the suspension, clearing Ebbsfleet to face Walton & Hersham on Saturday.
A transfer embargo, however, is still in effect.
In a statement, the National League said the committee still has matters it needs the club to address to ensure compliance with rules and regulations. In line with the applicable regulations, the suspension has been lifted with immediate effect, but the club remains under a player registration embargo.
The committee has set out required actions for the club and will remain in close contact.
