Womens Super League: PSG…

Manchester City have had multiple bids rejected by Paris Saint-Germain for midfielder Jennifer Echegini.

PSG consider the 25-year-old a key player and, with a year left on her contract, sources at the club say they have no intention of selling. The Nigeria international, who spent much of her youth in England, joined PSG two years ago after a season with Juventus. Last year, she scored the decisive goal in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final against Morocco, securing Nigeria’s record 10th title.

City have until Thursday’s transfer deadline to add to their squad before the Women’s Super League begins this weekend. Earlier this week it was confirmed that Vivianne Miedema, who can play in midfield or attack, will miss the start of the season with a knee injury.

PSG face Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday evening in the Women’s Champions League third-round qualifying tie.

Meanwhile, BBC Sport reported that Arsenal have agreed terms to sign France defender Elisa de Almeida from PSG. Sources in France suggest the fee is around £550,000, with the move expected to be completed before Thursday’s deadline. She is understood to be available for selection against Frankfurt before travelling to London.
