Hull City has condemned the racist abuse aimed at new signing Robinio Vaz following the club’s social media announcement of his arrival. The post, which revealed the 19-year-old French striker had joined from Roma on a season-long loan, was later removed.
The club says it is working with Humberside Police and other authorities to identify those responsible. In a statement, Hull reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on discrimination, pledged full support to Vaz, and said it has been in contact with the Premier League, anti-discrimination group Kick It Out, and the relevant social media platforms. Fans are urged to report any discriminatory behavior.
Vaz, who scored once in Serie A last season, joins with an option to buy at the end of the loan.
Head coach Sergej Jakirovic called the abuse disgraceful and unacceptable, criticizing the anonymity of the accounts involved. He said the club is fully behind Vaz and is helping him settle, noting French-speaking teammates are assisting with communication as he does not speak English.
