Kane Scores 400th Career…

Harry Kane reached a milestone by scoring his 400th club goal in his career, leading Bayern Munich to a 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, handing Dortmund their first Bundesliga defeat of the season.

Kane’s goal came in the 22nd minute as he headed in a corner taken by Joshua Kimmich. This marked his 22nd goal for club and country this season, extending his Bundesliga scoring streak to five consecutive games with a total of nine goals during this stretch.

Since transferring to Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023, the 32-year-old has netted 104 goals in 107 matches. Prior to this, he scored 280 goals for his childhood club Spurs, with additional contributions coming from loan spells at Millwall (nine goals), Leyton Orient (five), and Leicester City (two).

Kane is dominating the Bundesliga. What’s next for England’s No. 9?

In addition to his club success, Kane has also scored 76 goals for England, recently netting two against Latvia to secure qualification for the 2026 World Cup. This adds to his impressive run of scoring in nine consecutive games for club and country.

Despite playing from a deeper position behind striker Nicolas Jackson, on loan from Chelsea, Kane still managed to contribute significantly. “I probably played a bit of six, eight, and ten,” Kane joked with ESPN, adding that he enjoys the versatility of his role.

“I know everyone is used to me being up front scoring goals, but I feel I can offer much more,” he remarked. “Today was a great example; I still got on the scoresheet, but it was also about defending, winning tackles, picking up second balls, and making passes that worked well.”

Kane initiated an early scoring chance while defending, slipping past two Dortmund forwards before passing the ball forward. Michael Olise forced a save from Gregor Kobel, who also denied Luis Díaz’s follow-up attempt.

Olise narrowly missed the left post with another shot, yet Bayern went into halftime with just a 1-0 lead, which they felt could have been more.

Dortmund showed improvement after the break as Felix Nmecha came close to scoring, and Serhou Guirassy missed a chance, while Karim Adeyemi failed to take advantage of a rare mistake from Kimmich.

However, Olise ultimately sealed the victory by redirecting an attempted goal-line clearance from substitute Jobe Bellingham in the 79th minute, a play initiated by an impressive cross-field pass from Kane to Díaz.

Though substitute Julian Brandt scored shortly after coming on, Bayern managed to hold on for their 11th consecutive win in all competitions, sending a strong message to their closest rival after six matches.

“It was a strong performance,” Kane reflected. “Coming back from the international break is always tough, especially with the late return of many players, and facing a solid team like Dortmund adds to the challenge. I felt we dominated for about 50 to 60 minutes, controlling the game well. The first half should have seen us up by two or three goals at least, but giving such teams chances can be difficult. We did well to secure the second goal, though conceding soon after was frustrating. Overall, we can be very pleased.”
