LEVERKUSEN, Germany — Forward Bayer Leverkusen, Malik Tillman, will be sidelined for an additional two weeks after suffering a thigh injury while on international duty with the United States.
The Bundesliga club announced on Sunday that tests conducted in Leverkusen revealed the severity of the injury and the expected recovery time.
The 23-year-old experienced cramping in his thigh during training with the U.S. national team last Monday, which resulted in him missing the squad’s friendly victory against Australia, as well as Leverkusen’s thrilling 4-3 away win against Mainz in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
“I’m hopeful it’s not a serious issue,” U.S. coach Mauricio Pochettino commented regarding Tillman’s injury.
