This missed opportunity may remain the closest Lewandowski gets to wearing a United jersey as it seems highly unlikely he will be seen in Manchester’s red next summer.
Despite his remarkable talent, the 37-year-old Lewandowski’s age and salary demands could be prohibitive for United, as the club has shifted away from investing heavily in players past their prime.
With United having signed Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig for €85 million this past summer as their long-term forward, their focus next summer will likely be on acquiring a box-to-box midfielder.
