Carragher: Liverpool in…

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has described his former team as being in “crisis mode” following four consecutive defeats in the Premier League, raising concerns about the defending champions’ physicality.

Their latest loss, against Brentford on Saturday, marked another setback for Arne Slot’s squad, which has only managed one victory in their last six matches across all competitions.

During an appearance on Sky Sports, Carragher, who played 737 matches for Liverpool over a 17-year professional career, did not hold back on discussing the champions’ struggles.

“To see the champions lose four games in a row in the Premier League, especially considering their summer spending, indicates that Liverpool is in crisis mode right now,” he remarked.

“It would be a disaster for any team, especially a newly promoted one, to lose four matches consecutively.”

“There will be significant questions posed within the dressing room, directed at the manager, coaching staff, and even the club’s upper management and players.

“Given their financial investment and the players they’ve recruited, expectations will be much higher.”

After witnessing Liverpool struggle with Brentford’s long throw-ins on Saturday, Carragher noted that their deficiencies stem from a lack of physicality.

“Liverpool needs to reassess the physical presence and height within their squad, because at this moment, I believe they’re lacking in that area,” he concluded.
