Ranking Man City’s NINE…

Manchester City delivered a disappointing performance in their recent 1-0 loss to Aston Villa during their Premier League encounter on Sunday, a sentiment echoed by their choice of attire at Villa Park.

Pep Guardiola’s team took to the field in their 2025-26 third kit, a rather drab grey design seemingly inspired by Manchester’s notorious rain—marking its first appearance of the season, although it may be the last.

The unappealing jersey, featuring a drizzle-print graphic and neon green trim, didn’t do much to entice fans, distracting them from their matchday pies. This outfit also brings the total number of unique outfield kits worn by City, supplied by Puma, to nine in this calendar year—five from the latter part of the 2024-25 season and four so far in the current campaign.

Considering that City players are averaging nearly one new kit per month in 2025, we decided to compile and rank all the various home, away, third, fourth, and special edition shirts they’ve donned in competitive matches since January.

9. Manchester City 2025-26 Third Kit

Coming in at the bottom of our list, we can only imagine the creative process at Puma when designing this garish grey and green misstep. The clashing colors and rain-inspired graphic pay homage to Manchester’s infamous cloudy weather, but the result is far from appealing.

8. Manchester City 2024-25 Home Kit

Last season’s home shirt never quite resonated with us. The neck detail featuring the Manchester area code (0161) came off as rather tacky in retrospect. The overall concept lacked strength, and the execution was even weaker.

7. Manchester City 2024-25 Third Kit

While a burgundy-and-gold color scheme could have been a winning combo, the oversized graphics, inspired by the ship on the club crest, fell short of expectations, ultimately diminishing the overall appeal of the kit.

6. Manchester City 2024-25 Fourth Kit

Known as the “Definitely Maybe kit,” City’s fourth alternate jersey was an abstract homage to Oasis’s debut album cover. The shirt, resembling a “colour map” of the album art, resulted in a quirky mixture of yellow, turquoise, and pink that drew mixed reactions.

5. Manchester City 2025-26 Fourth Kit

Featuring a forest green color with digital triangles, this hyper-modern kit includes a hidden NFC chip in the club crest, allowing fans to scan and access exclusive EA Sports FC26 content. While the interactive feature might be gimmicky, the shirt’s design is quite sleek.

4. Manchester City 2025-26 Home Kit

This season’s home kit impresses with a cloud-like graphic running diagonally across a sky-blue base, subtly referencing the iconic City sash—a clever nod to the club’s design heritage.

3. Manchester City 2025-26 Away Kit

Diving into the Victorian era for inspiration, City’s new away kit is reminiscent of the one worn in 1884 when they were first established as St. Mark’s West Gorton FC. The simplistic black and silver design is both classic and modern, striking a perfect balance.

2. Manchester City 2025 CWC Away Kit

Released for the FIFA Club World Cup, City’s iconic “sash” kit was modernized with a unique twist by New York streetwear brand KidSuper. This updated version, featuring a graphic inspired by the fans’ “Poznan” dance, strikes the perfect balance between quirky and cool.

1. Manchester City 2024-25 Away Kit

A fan favorite, City’s 2024-25 fluorescent yellow-and-navy striped away kit drew inspiration from the one worn during their memorable 1998-99 season, culminating in a thrilling playoff victory over Gillingham. The nostalgic connection to the club’s history adds to the appeal, making it a true standout in their collection.
