Evangelos Marinakis, owner of Nottingham Forest, has pledged to provide financial assistance for medical care to any supporters involved in the knife attack on a train in Huntingdon on Saturday.
According to British Transport Police (BTP), two individuals are currently in critical condition, while nine others have been hospitalized following the violent incident on a high-speed train Saturday evening.
The club recognizes that some of their fans were aboard the train returning to London after Nottingham Forest’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United earlier that day.
In response to the situation, Marinakis assured that he would cover medical expenses for any injured supporters.
“We at Nottingham Forest are shocked and deeply saddened by these events,” the Greek owner stated in a club announcement.
“The bravery and selflessness exhibited by our supporters on that train truly exemplify the best of humanity and our club’s community spirit.
“We will ensure that any supporter affected by this incident receives the financial support necessary to access the highest quality medical care during their recovery.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted.”
In the match against Manchester United, Forest managed to secure a 2-2 draw, ending a streak of four consecutive league defeats.
The club expressed: “Nottingham Forest Football Club extends its deepest concerns and heartfelt condolences to all those affected by the shocking incident on the LNER train headed to London yesterday evening.
“Many of our supporters based in London were on that train returning home after our match at the City Ground, and our thoughts are firmly with everyone involved in this distressing event.
