Barcelona and Spain forward Lamine Yamal made history on Monday by becoming the youngest player ever selected for FIFPRO’s Men’s World 11.
At just 18 years old, Yamal surpassed the previous record held by Kylian Mbappé, who was 19 when he received this honor in 2018.
Paris Saint-Germain led the way with five players from their Treble-winning squad earning spots on the list.
Among those picked was goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who has since transferred to Manchester City.
Alongside him, Achraf Hakimi, Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, and Ousmane Dembélé also represented PSG.
Liverpool‘s Virgil van Dijk was also selected, joined by Chelsea‘s Cole Palmer and Real Madrid‘s Jude Bellingham. Mbappé was also named to the list once again.
Over 20,000 professional male footballers cast their votes for this year’s team. This award has been presented since 2005 and is the only honor determined exclusively by professional players.
