Fiorentina Parts Ways with…

On Tuesday, Fiorentina announced the dismissal of head coach Stefano Pioli, following a series of disappointing results that left the team winless after 10 rounds of Serie A.

This decision came just two days after a damaging 1-0 defeat at home to Lecce, worsening the crisis within the Tuscan side.

Currently, Fiorentina sits near the bottom of the league table, only one point above Genoa, with just four points accumulated from four draws and six losses.

“Fiorentina can confirm that Stefano Pioli has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the first team,” the club stated. “Daniele Galloppa will temporarily assume the role of head coach, starting with this afternoon’s training session.”

This firing follows an announcement made on Saturday regarding the mutual termination of the contract of sporting director Daniele Prade.

Pioli took over as manager when Raffaele Palladino unexpectedly departed after leading the team to a sixth-place finish last season.

Despite the current struggles in the league, Fiorentina has enjoyed recent success in Europe, having reached the finals of the Conference League in consecutive seasons and advancing to the semifinals last year.

In this season’s Conference League, Fiorentina currently leads the group, and their next match will be against Mainz on Thursday.

The team’s next Serie A fixture is against Genoa on Sunday, marking a critical match-up between the two lowest-ranked clubs.

Before this role, Pioli led AC Milan to the Serie A title in 2022 and coached Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

This marks the third coaching change in Serie A this season, following Luciano Spalletti’s appointment at Juventus and Patrick Vieira’s departure from Genoa.
