Balogun Nets First…

United States forward Folarin Balogun netted his first Champions League goal, leading AS Monaco to a 1-0 victory over Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday night.

His decisive goal came just before halftime, as he fired a shot from a narrow angle into the top of the net. This win marked Monaco’s first in the league phase, bringing their total to five points after four matches.

Although Balogun has had an inconsistent presence on the field for both the U.S. national team and Monaco this year, he has recently been earning regular playing time for both. He scored in the Americans’ 1-1 draw against Ecuador during the October friendlies.

He has accumulated four goals in his last eight appearances across all competitions, contributing five goals for Monaco this season.

Additionally, Balogun’s U.S. teammate Ricardo Pepi also found the back of the net on matchday four, aiding PSV Eindhoven in securing a point against Olympiacos during stoppage time of the second half. Like Monaco, PSV also sits on five points in their league phase campaign.
