Tammy Abraham has officially joined Besiktas, as confirmed by the Turkish club, prior to his anticipated transfer to Aston Villa.
The 28-year-old had been on loan at Besiktas from Roma this season, with an agreement that would make the move permanent if specific criteria were met.
During his time at Besiktas, the English striker, who has 11 caps for the national team, netted 13 goals in 26 appearances. Reports suggest he is on the verge of a transfer to Unai Emery’s Aston Villa for an estimated fee of around £18 million ($25 million) in the coming days.
Abraham did not feature in Besiktas’ 2-2 draw with Eyupspor on Monday night.
In an earlier statement on Monday, Besiktas announced, “The conditions in the transfer contract for Kevin Oghenetega Tamaraebi Bakumo-Abraham have been met, and the clause for the permanent transfer of the player has been activated.”
“As per this, a transfer fee of 13 million euros will be paid to AS Roma.
Abraham began his career at the academy of Chelsea but eventually moved on to Roma in 2021 after falling out of favor. He scored 39 goals in 120 matches for the Serie A club, famously winning the Conference League under José Mourinho a year later.
An anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury impeded his progress, leading him to spend last season on loan at AC Milan, where he tallied 10 goals in 44 appearances.
His last appearance for England was in a goalless Nations League match against Italy in June 2022.
